April 2010: Roseland FD, Essex Fells FD, and Caldwell FD go to
Middle sex County Fire Academy for a Live Burn Drill including the
Flashover Simulator.
June 2009: Firefighters drill using a large tank of water to do
pump drafting. This would be in case our hydrant system fails.

May 2009: Firefighters Drill on finding their way out of a smoky
fire using hoselines or ropes. Members used hoods over their masks
to simulate smoke. Pictured are Asst. Chief Lee, FF LaBrunda and
FF Mazzocchi.
In February, 2008, the department held an elevator rescue drill.
Members performed hands-on evolutions for how to free occupants trapped

In January,2008 the Roseland Fire Department had a monthly drill on
ropes, knots, and the stokes basket. Here are photos from the
drill.
During the weekend of November 3-4, 2007, members of Roseland Fire
Department's Technical Rescue Team trained on trench rescue operations
along with members of the Cedar Grove, North Caldwell, and Montclair
Fire Departments. The course was taught by a retired member of
FDNY Rescue 3.
On October 13, 2007, firefighters from the Roseland Fire Department
drilled and did a rapelling demonstration as part of Fire Prevention
Day. Below is the movie.
On November 20, 2006, members of the Fire Department practiced using
recip. saws to practice school bus rescue skills.
As part of his Eagle Scout project, Cadet David
Rasmussen built a search and rescue simulator for the fire department The
simulator was used for the first time on Tuesday October 2, 2006.
On August 28, 2006 a local homeowner who will be razing and rebuilding his house allowed the fire department to use his house for a drill. Using smoke to limit visibility, firefighters practiced search and rescue drills.
